Study of Literary Psychology in Drama Monologue “Ibu Sejati “by Putu Wijaya and Its Utilization as Literature Teaching Material in Senior High School
Abstract
Sigmund Freud's psychology is a theory of literary analysis. In the study using this theory, there are
several levels, namely the analysis of personality structure, personality dynamics and self-defense
mechanisms. This study aims to examine the main characters contained in the monologue drama script
Ibu Sejati by Putu Wijaya and their use as teaching materials in high school. Reviewing the
independent curriculum was developed as a curriculum that focuses on essential materials and
character development. This research is motivated by literary learning that focuses on literature as a
way to shape the personality of students. With this, the researchers conducted research on literature
that was used as teaching material. This research method is qualitative with Sigmund Freud's
psychological theory. Based on the results of this study, the id is more dominant while the ego
contained in the mother tends to be weak so that it cannot control the pressures generated by the id so
that the resulting superego cannot balance the two. The dynamics of the personality experienced by
the mother experience the life instinct, the mother gets a stimulus from within and from outside which
causes the death instinct to emerge. The mechanism shown is repression, apathy and fantasy then the
results of the analysis are designed to be literature teaching materials in class XI high school. The
validation results get a percentage of 88% which shows the results are very valid.
